The high polish gives it the waxy, almost wet sheen nephrite is prized for, and the generous wall thickness gives it real weight in the hand. Carved from one continuous piece, with no metal, clasp or join anywhere in the ring.

About Pakistani nephrite

Quarried in northern Pakistan, where the mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan hold some of the world's finest modern nephrite. The deposits worked around Shangla and the Swat-Kohistan belt yield a dense, fine-grained stone in deep spinach-to-forest greens, still recovered in small quantities and finished largely by hand.

• Toughness. Nephrite's interlocking fibrous structure makes it the most durable of the jades, built for daily wear.
• Luster. That structure takes the soft, almost oily polish collectors look for.
• Type A, guaranteed. No dye, no polymer impregnation, no bleaching. Natural color, cut and polished only.
